For my long term project I plan to continue documenting data center development in the region. So far I have focused primarily on photographing the structures themselves and I feel that I have successfully captured their scale and physical presence within the landscape. Moving forward I want to expand the project to explore the broader environmental and community impact.
The first new component will involve integrating satellite imagery to better demonstrate how much land is cleared to make room for these structures. By presenting before and after aerial views I hope to clearly show the transformation of natural landscape into industrial hellscapes. This perspective will provide viewers with a stronger understanding of the true footprint of these developments.
The second aspect will focus on capturing the noise pollution produced by data centers. I plan to consult my sound recording professor to determine the most effective way to document this. My goal is to create an NPR style radio segment that layers ambient recordings with interviews from experts and nearby residents.
Finally I will cover the Nolandoverdata group and their efforts to stop construction on the site of a former mall.
